Corona Virus reaches Northamptonshire
Written by HFM on 4th March 2020
As the number of people in the UK confirmed to have caught the
Coronavirus continues to increase, the first case has been confirmed in
Northamptonshire.
Public Health England has revealed a resident returning home to the
county from Italy has tested positive for the currently untreatable new
COVID-19 strain.
The race is now on to contact people who’re known to have had close
contact with the patient since they became infected.
Lucy Wightman, director of public health for Northamptonshire County
Council, has moved to reassure residents that the risk to the general
public remains low.
So far there have been no reported cases in Leicestershire, however
England’s chief medical officer is warning it’s “just a matter of time”.
