Community Rallies To Save Dachshund ‘Lucky’

The community is being thanked for raising over £1,000 to help save the life of a abandoned dog found seriously ill near Market Harborough.

The two-year-old Dachshund was taken to the town-based Dogz Dinner Animal Foodbank for help, after being discovered in distress off the A6 near Rockingham Road earlier this month.

After being seen by a vet it was found the female dog, which has been named Lucky by volunteers, had a life-threatening infection and needed an emergency operation.

A crowdfunding appeal was launched to cover the vet fees, which were provided at a reduced rate by Stoley’s Vets in Corby, with a number of people making donations.

The surgery was a success and Lucky is continuing to make a good recovery.

She has also now been adopted by two of the animal foodbank’s volunteers, Luke and Kayleigh Greer.
