Community Projects Benefit From Over £1.5m

Community projects across Harborough are to benefit from funding totalling over £1.5m.

The grants have been awarded by the District Council using money provided by housing developers to improve areas where they have built.

Over £1m has been given to Fleckney Parish Council towards the cost of building a new sports centre in the village, while the 1st Bowdens Scout Group’s hut replacement project has been boosted by over £48,500.

Gilmorton Community Playing Fields Association has been awarded over £184,000 to extend the existing its pavilion, to improve child safety and additional changing and meeting room facilities; and Medbourne Parish Council has been given over £28,000 to construct a new a footpath on the edge of the sports field, joining the end of the existing village footpath to the sports club.

Fleckney Village Hall will also benefit, with £50,000 awarded for improvements to car park.
