Charity Truck-Pull Organiser Found Guilty Of Fraud

The organiser of Charity Truck Pull Events held in Market Harborough and Medbourne will be sentenced tomorrow, after pocketing most of the money raised.

Gary Gardner put them on between 2013 and 2015, with the main benefactor supposedly the Trust Fund set-up for the young son of murder soldier Lee Rigby.

Not a penny of the £24,000 raised was handed over though – and only £4,000 ever made its way to any organisation.

Leicester Crown Court heard the 54-year-old spent £5,000 making a charity single that raised just £200 and used some of the money to clear a personal overdraft.

Gardner from Old Holt Road in Medbourne was convicted of two counts of fraud at Leicester Crown Court today and cleared of one count, which alleged he failed to keep a record of the amounts raised from fundraisers.
