Celebrations After SEND Nursery Closure Plans Scrapped

Campaigners are celebrating after Leicestershire County Council abandoned plans to close four specialist nurseries for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The proposal had suggested moving SEND provision into mainstream nurseries, but many parents feared their children would be placed in settings not properly equipped to meet their needs.
Over 2,000 people signed a petition against the move, and council leader Dan Harrison says the authority has dropped the idea after listening to the “powerful feedback.”
