Bus Workers Could Strike Over Pay

Some bus services serving the Market Harborough area could face disruption as 300 Arriva workers ballot for strike action over pay.
300 drivers, depot and office staff based across Leicestershire say the company’s offer does not reflect the rising cost of living, according to trade union Unite.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said Arriva is “hugely wealthy” and can afford a fairer offer, while regional officer Harj Mahi added that strike action could still be avoided if the company improves its proposal.
Services could face disruption
Arriva has offered drivers a 3.53% pay rise from June 2025, plus a further 0.9% from January 2026, the union said.
Meanwhile, non-driving staff have been offered a 3.8% rise from June 2025.
The company operates routes including the X3 between Market Harborough and Leicester.
The ballot closes on November the 19th, and the union warns any strike would severely affect services.
A spokesperson for Arriva Midlands said: “We’re aware that Unite plans to ballot its members about industrial action.
“We will continue to work with Unite to find a resolution.”
