Bus Strikes On-Hold After Improved Pay Offer

Strikes by Arriva bus workers in Leicestershire have been put on hold after the company made an improved pay offer.
Hundreds of drivers, depot and office staff had been due to start eight days of industrial action from tomorrow, with a warning bus services would have been severely disrupted.
The Unite union says planned strikes this week and on Monday are now suspended while members consider the new deal.

Strikes this week have been called-off
However, further walk-outs on December 20th and 21st and January 5th and 6th will still go ahead if the offer is rejected.
Unite members had previously rejected a pay offer from the bus firm.
Unite regional officer Harj Mahi said: “Following an improved offer from Arriva, Unite has suspended strike action to allow our members to be balloted.”
Arriva had previously said it was committed to finding a resolution and a spokesperson for Arriva Midlands said: “We’re pleased Unite have postponed industrial action while members consider another offer.”
