Bus Fares Cut To Encourage More People On Board

The price of most single bus fares in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire have been cut to encourage more people to get on board.
They are being capped at £2 for the next three months as part of a government initiative.
Operators Stagecoach and Arriva are among companies taking part in the scheme, which also means children’s tickets are frozen at £1 pound for a one-way fare.

With the average single local bus ticket costing £2.80, passengers will save almost a third of the ticket price per journey. In some rural areas a single ticket can cost over £5.
The Department for Transport is funding the £60m scheme across England.
