Burner On Re-Surfacing Lorry Sparked Fire In Market Harborough

A burner on a road re-surfacing lorry sparked a fire in Market Harborough yesterday.
Workers were repairing potholes off Farndon Road when the blaze started and spread to a van which had gas bottles in the back.
The fire also damaged the fascia and cladding of a near-by business unit.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service told Hfm a bullfinch burner in use on the tarmacking lorry started the fire.
Fire crews were called just before 9.15am and used hose reel jets to fight the fire and specialist ventilation equipment to keep the gas bottles cool and stop them exploding.
No-one was injured.
