Beacons were lit and a special church service held to mark the 80th Anniversary of D-Day across the Harborough district.
Members of Harborough’s Sea, Army, Air and Police cadet organisations joined veterans and others at a well-attended commemorative service at St Dionysius Church in Market Harborough last night.
Beacons were lit in Lubenham and Lutterworth simultaneously with others across the country and in Normandy at 9.15pm, as part of events to pay tribute to those who were part of the historic operation.
