Banking Hub Set To Open In January

A Banking Hub is set to open in Market Harborough town centre in January.
It is initially likely to operate from a temporary location, while a search continues for a permanent base for the service, which will allow customers of different banks to receive face-to-face service.

The decision to open a hub follows the closure of three banks in less than two years and ahead of Lloyds shutting its doors in March.
An update on the plan was revealed at meeting between Harborough MP Neil O’Brien and officials who are working on setting up the Hub.
Mr O’Brien said: “At least five major banks will have a member of staff there one day a week on a regular basis and a proper private office space – so you can do things like mortgages, savings accounts, ISAs etc with your bank.
“I know lots of people will find it useful to use the bank in person and I will continue to support businesses keeping cash as an option, as I know many people prefer it.”
Cash Access UK, which will set-up the Banking Hub, says it continues to search for a suitable property to operate the facility from.
Market Harborough Building Society has recently introduced a new service for customers of any bank to deposit and withdraw cash and coins, at a dedicated kiosk inside the branch on The Square.
Meanwhile, a new use looks to have been found for the Lloyds premises when the bank shuts:
