Award-Winning Harborough Charity Launches Urgent Funding Appeal

A Market Harborough charity has launched an urgent appeal for funding as it tries to cope with record demand.

HAB Anti-bullying and Mental Health has provided free counselling sessions for around 70 people in the past year, who otherwise would have faced waiting of up to two years to get help via the NHS.

Financial support from grants has dropped sharply and for the first time the charity is having to implement a waiting list for counselling sessions for people going through mental health, bullying issues, bereavement and domestic abuse.

The charity has just been presented with an award for the work it does in the community, after being recognised in the late Queen’s Jubilee awards scheme last year.

Marie Connor, who founded the charity in 2011, told HFM the situation is becoming difficult:
