Armed Police Deployed After Reports Of Man With Gun

Armed police were deployed in Rothwell last night after reports a man had a gun.

Officers were sent to an open area between Rothwell and Desborough known as ‘The Pits’ and a helicopter crew from the National Police Air Service was scrambled to assist with the search.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police told HFM: “Just after 7pm we were called to the area of Shotwell Mill Lane following reports that someone had seen a man with a holster that allegedly held a firearm.

“We deployed and searched the area alongside the police helicopter but could find no trace of the man.

“Enquiries into the report are continuing.”
