Appeal For Footage Of Flash Flooding In Market Harborough

An appeal has been launched for photos and video footage of yesterday’s flash flooding in Market Harborough.
The Harborough Town Hub, which is currently working on a report to highlight the risks of flooding in and around the town, would like the pictures and videos, to form part of evidence within it.
Northampton Road was closed because of the flash flooding
Leicestershire County Council, the lead flood authority, has not yet decided if it will launch a formal investigation.
A fierce thunderstorm brought around 30 minutes of torrential downpours, leading to flooding on a number of roads and giant hailstones falling.
Northampton Road was one of the worst affected, with vehicles getting stuck in deep water near the Welland Park Road junction and residents trying to stop water from entering their homes.
Harborough District councillor Darren Woodiwiss spoke to HFM:
A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council told HFM: “Our teams will be working with residents to assess the impact of yesterday’s flood before deciding on any next steps when it comes to a flood investigation.”
