Appeal After Dog Dumped In Crate Is Put Down

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a starving critically-ill dog dumped in a crate near East Farndon had to be put down.

The pedigree dog, of the Chinese Shar-Pei breed, which couldn’t walk and had half its fur missing due to a severe skin condition,was found at the Battle Of Naseby Prince Rupert’s Viewpoint site off Clipston Road at 2.30pm on Thursday February 27^th.

The animal – which is thought to have been used for breeding – was rushed to vets – but due to her multiple health issues a decision was made to put her to sleep.

Inspector Ann Bennett said: “This poor dog was left starving and in obvious need of veterinary care but it appears someone decided to simply throw her away like rubbish rather than seek out the help she needed.

“There were clear signs she had been used for breeding so it is almost as if she had served her useful purpose and was no longer required.

“She must have been suffering as she was severely emaciated, she was collapsed and she had 50 per cent fur loss due to an untreated skin condition.

“To just leave her in a crate at such a remote location is a callous act and I am appealing for anyone who knows who she belonged to to get in touch.”

Ann believes the dog would have been taken to the site in a car and there is a parking area about 50 metres away so is also asking for any witnesses who saw anything suspicious to come forward.

As part of her inquiries she will be also checking CCTV in the area.
