Appeal After Arsonists Strike Near Lamport
Written by HFM News on 25th July 2022
A large fire in the open near Lamport over the weekend is thought to have been started deliberately.
A large quantity of fly-tipped material went up in flames off Rothwell Road.
The alarm was raised just after 11.30am on Saturday, with fire crews working to deal with the blaze and stop it spreading.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service told HFM: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet and the ultra-high pressure hose to put out the flames and prevent any fire spread.
“The crew left the scene at 12.25pm with a second crew returning to the scene later in the day and on Sunday to check for further hotspots.
“Firefighters dampened down the refuse again to prevent reignition and are working with the landowner to prevent any further issues. The cause is believed to be deliberate.”
Anyone with information is urged to call the firestoppers hotline.
The Fire Service is urging all landowners and farmers to be vigilant and for anyone has any information about deliberate fires, to contact Firestoppers on 0800 1695 558.
