Apology After Green Bin Subscription Issues

Written by on 22nd April 2022

Harborough District Council has apologised after subscription issues meant some residents’ green bins were not emptied this week.

A change to the way payments for the garden waste service are made is being blamed.

Some people who subscribed to the service last year say they were not informed about the change and presumed collections would continue with their previous direct debit details.

Cllr Jonathan Bateman, Harborough District Council’s Cabinet lead for environmental services, said: “Unfortunately a small number of customers have contacted us to say they’ve had issues subscribing, and we are working with these customers to help them sign up using the new payment platform we are now using.

“As we are working with a new system, we are listening to feedback from customers and making improvements as required.

“We apologise to anyone who has had difficulties subscribing and encourage customers who are having issues signing up to the service to email us via gwsubscriptions@harborough.gov.uk and we will advise accordingly. If you haven’t yet signed up, please do so by visiting www.harborough.gov.uk/garden-waste.

“Our garden waste collection service continues to be popular with residents with over 15,000 people already signed up this year.”
