Apology After Fleckney-Wigston Road Closed By Mistake
Written by HFM News on 9th October 2023
Network Rail has apologised after a road between Fleckney and Wigston was closed to traffic by mistake.
Barriers were put across Newton Lane yesterday morning together with a ‘road closed’ sign and drivers were forced to turn around, as there were no signs warning the road was shut further up the road.

The road was closed by mistake
The road is set to close for around five months for bridge works linked with the electrification of the Midland Mainline, but details still need to be agreed with Leicestershire County Council before the closure can come into force.
Network Rail have told HFM it was an error by its traffic management firm and the road was re-opened shortly afterwards.
The spokesman apologised for the inconvenience the brief closure caused drivers.
