Active Travel Revolution Targets Traffic Congestion

A new initiative has launched in Market Harborough which aims to get parents to ditch the car on the school run.

The Active Travel Revolution aims to reduce traffic, improve air quality and encourage healthier lifestyles by increasing the number of children walking, scooting or cycling to and from school.

It is being headed-up by a team of volunteers who are initially working with Ridgeway Primary Academy, in a bid to change behaviours and make alternatives to the car a more accessible and appealing choice for families.

Launch of the initiative

The team plans to roll out the initiative to other primary schools across the town with potential expansion to secondary schools too.

It is also working with councils to encourage work to improve infrastructure and facilities for active travel.
