An investigation’s been launched after a Market Harborough youngster choked on a crisp his parents say had a metal spring wrapped around it.
Three-year-old Preston Green was eating Wheat Crunchies at home on Wednesday when he started gagging.
His Mum smacked him on the back and part of the crisp, with the two-inch coil around it, shot out of his mouth.
The youngster then complained his teeth were hurting, thought to be as a result of biting into the crisp.
Preston’s Dad Adam says it could have been much worse had the crisp not been freed from his throat.
In a statement, manufacturer KP said: “We are aware of a complaint by Mr Green concerning a packet of Wheat Crunchies.
“As a responsible food manufacturer, KP Snacks takes the quality of its products extremely seriously and has stringent quality assurance procedures in place.
“As with any complaint, we have clearly established procedures that we follow to help us investigate what has happened.
“Mr Green has agreed to send us the item and the packaging so that we can carry out a full investigation. We will continue to liaise with Mr Green to resolve his complaint.”
