Crisis-Hit Council Backs Massive Cuts Plan

Northamptonshire County Council has backed massive cuts to jobs and services in a bid to tackle a funding shortfall of £70m.
Councillors supported the move at a crisis meeting earlier, in which they also pledged to protect services for vulnerable people as much as possible.
Children’s services, road maintenance and waste management are among the areas facing ‘radical’ cuts.
Bosses will now work out what impact this will have on individual services and jobs.
