Market Harborough Pub Joins ‘Pass the Poppy’ Campaign

A nationwide Remembrance campaign is stopping off in Market Harborough, with a specially created poppy arriving at The Roebuck pub this evening.
The 3D-printed poppy is travelling more than a thousand miles through over 72 Marston’s pubs, raising money for the Royal British Legion ahead of Armistice Day.
The pub also holds regular events for veterans and their families, including a coffee morning and breakfast club.

General Manager Richard Bye, a Royal Navy veteran, says the ‘Pass the Poppy’ initiative is also helping to raise awareness of everyone who has served:
To mark the poppy’s arrival, the pub is holding a charity quiz night, starting at 7pm, with a pause at 7.15pm to welcome the poppy.
Veterans, serving personnel, cadets and the community are invited to attend. Entry is £2 per person, with all money raised going to the Royal British Legion.

The visit comes as Marston’s launches its annual ‘Raise a Glass’ campaign, with more than 1,100 pubs across the country taking part in Remembrance events and selling limited-edition commemorative pint and half-pint glasses.
Now in its third year, the campaign has raised more than £220,000 for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
The glasses have been designed by Army veteran and award-winning artist Jane Wilkes. Marston’s will donate £1.26 from every pint glass sold and 85p from every half-pint glass to the appeal, which supports serving personnel, veterans and their families.
The campaign runs until November 11.
