Residents To Be Compensated After Days Of Water Disruption

Homeowners and businesses in villages near Market Harborough affected by a major water outage are set to receive compensation from Anglian Water.

Three burst water mains disrupted supplies for several days in villages including Great Oxendon, Clipston, Kelmarsh and East Farndon, with pubs and other businesses forced to close.

Anglian Water says it will contact affected customers directly, with compensation automatically applied to eligible accounts.

The area impacted by the major outage

The problem began last Friday and continued until Tuesday, with low pressure or no water supplies. at all.

It also impacted parts of Rothwell.

The company said it had been carrying out extensive tankering operations to help maintain supplies across the network, alongside delivering bottled water to vulnerable customers and those in areas experiencing the greatest disruption.

Anglian Water officials have also met residents in East Farndon, where villagers have experienced multiple water outages this year.

Daventry MP Stuart Andrew is due to meet senior representatives from the company to discuss the repeated disruption and what needs to change.

He said: “I will be meeting senior representatives again to go through what has happened and, crucially, what needs to change to make the local network more resilient and prevent residents repeatedly finding themselves in this position.”
