Harborough Teen Takes on Final Leg of 500-Mile Challenge

A Market Harborough teenager is taking on the final leg of an epic fundraising challenge today in aid of Hope Against Cancer.

Will O’Connor is completing his 500 miles in 80 days challenge by running the final 50 kilometres from the charity’s base in Leicester back to Market Harborough.

The former Robert Smyth Academy student has been raising money for the Leicestershire charity throughout the challenge and is aiming to reach his £3,500 sponsorship target. He’s now less than £300 short of his goal.

Will, who works part-time at the Fat Face shop in Market Harborough, began the challenge shortly after finishing his A-levels. Fitness coach and TV personality Joe Wicks has also shared words of encouragement as the challenge has gathered momentum.

Hope Against Cancer funds more than 100 local research projects across Leicestershire and Rutland. The charity also supports a dedicated clinical trials centre at Leicester Royal Infirmary, helping to improve cancer treatment and access to new therapies.
