Pub Near Market Harborough Could Be Saved From Closure

A pub near Market Harborough could be saved from closure and given a new lease of life under a new hospitality group.

The Langton Inn Table Table is among 53 branded pub/restaurant sites owner Whitbread has agreed to conditionally sell to Queensway Inns.

Queensway plans to operate the venues as value-focused pubs and retain staff.

The pub off the A6 is currently only serving customers at the neighbouring Premier Inn and is due to close fully next month.

The closure is part of nationwide changes by Whitbread, which is moving away from its branded pub restaurant estate and introducing Premier Inn restaurants within its hotels.

A Whitbread spokesperson said: “Whitbread has reached an agreement for the conditional sale of 53 Branded Restaurant sites to Queensway Inns, subject to a number of final conditions being met.

“Queensway Inns has extensive experience operating hospitality businesses across the UK and intends to operate the sites as going concerns.

“Subject to completion of the sale and following the relevant TUPE information and consultation processes, around 900 team members could transfer and will be supported through the process.”

Whitbread said the proposed sale represents further progress on its Accelerating Growth Plan, first announced in April 2024.

The company announced in April 2026 that it was proposing to extend the programme to include all remaining branded restaurants, while adding 3,600 new Premier Inn hotel rooms in locations with strong demand.

The plans include creating new Premier Inn restaurants inside hotels, a format already operating in more than half of Premier Inn’s hotels.
