Police ‘Disappointed’ At 115 Drink & Drug Drive Arrests

Police say they’re disappointed with how many people were caught under the influence of alcohol and drugs during their summer clampdown.
Across Leicestershire were 90 drink and 25 drug drive arrests in the past six weeks – eight in the Harborough District – which were all drink-related.
That’s more than last year’s campaign that saw 62 arrests.
The arrests included:
- 32 between 6am and 6pm (24 drink / 8 drug)
- 29 involving drivers aged 24 or under (18 drink / 11 drug)
- 31 following an RTC (28 drink / 3 drug)
- 17 female drivers (16 drink / 1 drug)
- One of the highest roadside breath test readings has been 166 micrograms of alcohol for every 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit is 35 micrograms which means that this particular driver was over 4.5 times the legal drink drive limit.
