Young Peregrine Falcon Recovering at Kibworth Wildlife Hospital

A young peregrine falcon rescued from Leicester Cathedral is being cared for at Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital in Kibworth.

The bird, known as 4BB, repeatedly left the nest too early after being disturbed by an adult male peregrine near the cathedral’s nesting site.

Volunteers monitoring the nesting pair returned the youngster to the nest on several occasions, but it eventually became clear she was unlikely to settle and would need specialist care.

The juvenile falcon is now being looked after by staff at the wildlife hospital, who hope to release her back into the wild once she is strong enough.

The hospital has also praised the team of volunteers who monitor the cathedral’s peregrines, describing the project as an important part of wildlife conservation in Leicester city centre.
