Council Rejects ‘Harmful’ New Homes Plan

Plans to build 28 ‘affordable’ homes between Kibworth Beauchamp and Smeeton Westerby have been rejected following widespread objections.
More than 200 people opposed the proposal for land off Smeeton Road, citing concerns over highway safety, the loss of separation land between the villages, and the proximity to electricity pylons.

Councillors at Harborough District Council’s planning committee unanimously refused the scheme at a meeting last night, ruling that the development would harm the landscape and reduce the gap between the two communities.
