Entrepreneur Launches Four-in-One Insect Protein Bar

A Market Harborough entrepreneur is seeking backers after launching the UK’s first four-in-one insect protein bar.

Dan Balderson has developed technology through his company OKO to produce affordable, sustainable protein from crickets.

The project has received government funding to help refine and scale up the process.

What began in a garden shed has since grown into a purpose-built cricket farm, as the business looks to position itself at the forefront of alternative protein production in the UK.

Dan has been carrying out taste testing at gyms in Market Harborough and is now turning to crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, to raise the funds needed to bring the product fully to market.

He says the aim is to offer a high-protein, environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional snack bars, while making insect protein more accessible to mainstream consumers.
