Blue Liquid in River Welland Confirmed Harmless

An investigation into a bright blue liquid seen in the River Welland in Market Harborough has confirmed it poses no risk.

Anglian Water visited the site yesterday and believe the substance was dye used for testing by a third party.

Spot checks and sampling of the river found no abnormalities.

A spokesperson for Anglian Water, responsible for waste water in the town, said: “Our local team has been out to investigate and they believe that this was dye testing carried out by a third party.

“Our checks confirmed no issues with that outfall. The team also carried out spot sampling, which confirmed that there were no abnormalities in the watercourse.”

The liquid was first noticed on Sunday coming from a storm overflow pipe near the Kettering Road bridge, prompting concerns that it might be polluting the river.
