Farmers’ Tractor Convoy to Roll Through Market Harborough

A convoy of tractors will travel through Market Harborough and Lutterworth tomorrow as local farmers campaign for fairer prices from supermarkets.

The event, called ‘Proud to be a British Farmer’, will also highlight the need to create better opportunities for young people entering the industry.

Around 20 tractors are expected to pass through the town centre before continuing on towards Lutterworth.

Tractor protests have recently taken place outside supermarket depots as part of wider calls for fairer funding.

Andy Gillespie, who farms in Thorpe Langton with his daughter Victoria, is organising the event and told HFM the convoy aims to draw attention to the increasing pressures facing British farmers today:

• Start from McDonald’s/BP petrol station on A6 – 10:00am

• Welland Valley Feeds, Rockingham Road – 10:15am

• Market Harborough Town Centre – 10:30am

• Lubenham – 10:45am

• Husbands Bosworth – 11:00am

• North Kilworth – 11:10am

• Lutterworth Town Centre – 11:30am

• Kimcote – 11:45am

• Walton – 11:55am

• Crossing the A5199 – 12:15pm

• Fleckney – 12:30pm

• Kibworth – 12:40pm

• Return to McDonald’s/BP petrol station to finish by 1:00pm
