A14 Drivers to Endure Overnight Closure for Three Months

Written by on 30th January 2026

Drivers are being warned that a four-and-a-half mile stretch of the A14 in Northamptonshire will be closed overnight for the next three months for essential work to reduce the risk of landslips.

The eastbound carriageway between Junction 2 at Kelmarsh and Junction 3 for the A6 near Rothwell will be shut from 8pm to 6am until May.

The closures will allow engineers to stabilise sections of embankment that have previously slipped and improve drainage.

Highways England says the work is part of a wider maintenance programme aimed at making the road safer for drivers.

Fully signed diversion routes will be in place, and emergency service access will be maintained throughout.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time if travelling overnight along this stretch.
