Pupils’ Celebrate Remembrance Fundraiser Success

Great Bowden Academy has revealed it’s raised hundreds of pounds for The Royal British Legion this year thanks to a new book.

‘Remembrance Poems and Prayers’ was written by pupils in Classes 3 and 4 – reflecting on sacrifice, gratitude, and remembrance – and published in support of the 2025 Poppy Appeal.

Following what’s described as a hugely positive response from families, the school community, and members of the public, the Academy has revealed sales of the booklet brought in an impressive £570 for the military charity.

Headteacher Mrs Rebecca Blagburn says: “We are incredibly proud of our pupils. Their maturity, empathy, and understanding of remembrance shine through in every page of this booklet. It has been truly moving to see the impact their writing has had on so many people.”

Class 4 teacher Mrs Fellows adds: “The children were thrilled to see their work make such a difference. Knowing that their words touched veterans, families, and members of the community has been incredibly meaningful for them.”

Great Bowden Academy extends its sincere thanks to the booksale venues involved and to everyone who purchased a copy and supported the pupils’ efforts to raise money for the Royal British Legion’s important work.
