Phone Mast Removed From Park

A mobile phone mast in Market Harborough town centre has been removed.

The 3G structure, previously used by telecoms provider EE, was taken down today by specialist contractors in the Friendship Park on Northampton Road.

The road was temporarily closed while cranes were brought in to lift and remove the mast safely.

Harborough District Council had previously stated that the mast would be dismantled at a later date, after EE removed its equipment.

However, the entire structure was taken down today.

The mast had become redundant following the installation of a new 5G mast by EE earlier this year, further along Northampton Road at the Welland Park Road junction.

The space left behind in the park is expected to be used for a public art sculpture.
