School Honours Staff Member With Memorial Garden

A special garden area has been created at a Market Harborough school in memory of a much-loved and highly-respected staff member. 

Welland Park Academy’s Business Manager Elaine Winn was tragically killed alongside her husband Graeme in a cable car crash in Italy earlier this year.

The staff social space will provide a lasting tribute to Elaine, who lived in Market Harborough, and was greatly admired by colleagues and students for her warmth and kindness.

It features a plaque with her trademark greeting, ‘Hello Lovely.’

The covered space, known as a ‘garden of reflection’, has been made possible thanks to contributions from the community, including an olive tree from Langton Garden Centre and furnishings from Co-op Market Harborough.

It was set-up by Nicki Burgess, PA to the Principal and Jason Kempster from the school’s site services team.
