Ponies Removed Over Welfare Concerns

A number of ponies have been removed from a field in a Harborough village following concerns about their welfare.
The RSCPA was involved in the operation in Houghton on the Hill, together with horse charities.

The RSPCA told HFM it was unable to provide further details due to an on-going investigation.
A spokesperson said: “We are aware and actively involved in this situation.
“Unfortunately, we are unable to discuss complaints about specific people and what action may have been taken for legal reasons.
“We know this is frustrating, but we must act within the law at all times, as releasing information could prejudice a future prosecution or could lead to us being fined.
“Often people assume that we’re not doing anything to help a particular animal they’ve reported, when we’re actually working behind the scenes.”
