Harborough Couple Named As Cable Car Crash Victims

A British couple who died in a cable car crash in Italy were from Market Harborough.

65-year-old Graeme Winn and his wife Elaine, who was 58, were among four people killed in the tragedy near Naples on Thursday.

Officials say the incident happened after a cable snapped at the top of a near-two mile route that connects the seaside town of Castellammare di Stabia, near the Amalfi Coast, with a nearby mountain called Monte Faito.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office have said it is supporting the families of Mr and Mrs Winn and are in touch with the local authorities in Italy, who have opened an investigation into the cause of the incident.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has expressed her ‘sincere condolences’ to the families of the victims.
