Desborough Woman Who Slashed Tyres Must Pay Compensation

A woman from Desborough has been ordered to pay compensation to a Market Harborough man for criminal damage she committed following social media misinformation.
Leicester Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday (6th March 2025) how 50-year-old Sharon Marshall received messages via social media from someone claiming to be in a relationship with her partner.
One of Marshall’s friends then told her about the supposed love rival’s BMW being parked at a location in Market Harborough.
This led to Marshall heading into the town at night to vandalise the vehicle, puncturing all its tyres.
After being arrested by Leicestershire Police, Marshall learned the car actually belonged to a man, who was very upset by the incident and couldn’t understand why he’d been targeted.
After apologising for her actions Marshall escaped a fine or custodial sentence but was given a compensation order to pay £924 to the victim for the cost of replacing his tyres.
