Town Centre ‘Friendship Park’ Taking Shape

Written by on 28th January 2025

A new ‘friendship park’ is set to open in Market Harborough town centre at the end of March.

Work has been taking place for the past few months to transform a previously overgrown area on Northampton Road, which had become a magnet for anti-social behaviour.

The site was cleared to allow for landscaping work, a pathway to be laid and volunteers helped to plant around 10,000 bulbs.

Harborough District Council is creating the new park at a cost of £30,000, to make more green space available to people in the town centre and encourage users to talk to each other.

Finishing touches will include erecting wrought iron Fencing incorporating arches and gates, placing bird and bat boxes placed in trees, and installing benches and signage.
