Extra Waste To Be Collected After Bins Left Unemptied

Harborough District Council say bin crews will pick-up a ‘reasonable amount’ of extra recyclable waste after collections did not take place on New Year’s Eve.
The issue has left many residents in Market Harborough with overflowing blue-lidded bins, which were already extra full because of the festive period.
Strong winds over the weekend also saw rubbish blown out of bins onto streets.

Bins will now be emptied on Saturday and a council spokesperson told HFM: “We will be taking a reasonable amount of side waste; this will need to be either in a clear bag or cardboard box and neatly presented beside the bin on Saturday morning.
“Any recycling presented inside of a black bag will not be collected.”
Staffing problems were blamed for no collections taking place on December 31st and the council issued an apology for the inconvenience caused.
