Toddler Rescued After Falling Into River

A toddler was rescued after falling into the River Welland in Market Harborough.

The one-year-old girl fell into the water in Welland Park on Saturday morning.

Leicestershire Police say a member of the public went into the river and was able to bring her to safety, before emergency crews arrived at the scene.

The child was taken to hospital by air ambulance

The youngster was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

A police spokesperson told HFM: “Around 11.15am on Saturday (21 December) we were called to Welland Park in Market Harborough after a report that a 12-month old girl had fallen into some water.

“She was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.”

Police and crews from East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the incident.
