Patrols Upped After Thieves Target Shoppers

Police patrols are being upped in Market Harborough town centre today after thieves preyed on Christmas shoppers.

Officers are also urging people to be vigilant and to report any suspicious persons.

Last Saturday, a disabled man had a bag containing his wallet and mobile phone stolen while in the Lidl store and a woman had her purse stolen in a shop in St Mary’s Place.

Sgt Pete Jelbert from Market Harborough police station spoke to HFM:

Police have ‘purse bells’ available for free from Market Harborough Police Station.

These can be attached to purses to alert the owner if someone tries to remove it from a bag or pocket..
