Thieves Target Shoppers In Market Harborough

People are being warned to be vigilant after thieves preyed on shoppers in Market Harborough on Saturday.

A disabled man has his bag containing a wallet and phone stolen while in the Lidl supermarket between 11am and 12pm, while a woman had her purse stolen at around 11am while inside a shop in St Mary’s Place.

Both thefts were reported to police and officers say enquiries are ongoing.

Thieves and pickpockets often take advantage of shops being extra-busy in the run-up to Christmas to target shoppers.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “We would advise that people remain vigilant to opportunist thieves – ensure you keep your belongings with you and handbags are fully zipped/or closed.
