Apology After Council’s Live Stream ‘Muted’

Harborough District Council has apologised after the live stream of a key meeting was broadcast with no sound.

Human error was blamed for the technical glitch, which prevented members of the public and media from following proceedings of Monday’s Cabinet Meeting.

Funding for new temporary accommodation for the homeless and the results of a review of the Symington Building were among items being discussed.

Conservative councillor Phil King was unimpressed by the failure and told HFM it is not the first time there have been issues:

Cllr Phil Knowles, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “We can confirm that due to human error there was no sound for the majority of the live stream of last night’s Cabinet meeting.

“We are sorry that this resulted in those listening in not being able to hear discussions around a number of important topics and may have caused disappointment.

“The council has no immediate plans to change the way it streams meetings though we are always looking at how we can improve.”

The issue also meant no recording of the meeting will be uploaded to the council’s website for people to watch back.
