Pub Celebrates Winning Top Award

Staff at a pub near Market Harborough are celebrating winning a top award.

The George in Great Oxendon has been crowned joint-winner of the Gastro Pub of the Year category at the Weetabix Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards.

The venue beat off competition from dozens of other pubs after entering the competition for the first time.

Judges made secret visits to the pub and General Manager James Hayter told HFM it is a great honour to have been handed the gold award:

The White Horse Inn in Stoke Albany was highly commended in the same category of the awards.

Awards Director Rachel Mallows said: “Good food and drink is a powerful force in creating vibrant, healthy, connected communities. A

“The organisations in this room sustain local jobs, bring people and places together, and help us shine a spotlight on Northamptonshire Food and Drink”.
