Free Parking On Christmas Shopping Saturdays
Written by HFM News on 24th October 2024
You will be able to park for free in Market Harborough and Lutterworth on Saturdays in the run-up to Christmas.
Harborough District Council is to waive charges in its car parks on the 7th, 14th and 21st December to encourage people to ‘shop local’ and support town centre traders.
It follows positive feedback from shoppers and retailers after the initiative ran last year.
Cllr Phil Knowles, leader of the council, spoke to HFM:

There will free parking on Saturday’s including in the Sainsbury’s car park
The Market Harborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce has welcomed the announcement along with traders.
Jarrod Burke runs Randalls candy shop in Market Harborough and is a member of Harbs Collective, which represents the town’s independent retailers:
In Market Harborough, shoppers will be able to park for free for up to four hours in short stay car parks and all day in long stay car parks.
In Lutterworth all car parks will be free all day on the three Saturdays.
To qualify, drivers will need to obtain a free ticket from the machines by entering their vehicle registration number and pressing the green issue button, or by obtaining a free parking session on the Pay by Phone App.
