Call For Council To Restore Face-To-Face Customer Services

Written by on 10th September 2024

A councillor has criticised the ruling administration for failing to fill customer service desks at Harborough District Council’s HQ.

Conservative Simon Whelband says providing more face-to-face services at the Symington Building was a key pledge of the coalition when it was elected over a year ago, but desks remain empty.

He says residents who find it difficult to access help on-line need such a service:

Currently residents can book an appointment to see a member of staff in-person and council leader, Cllr Phil Knowles says providing excellent customer service is a top priority and his administration is continuing the address cutbacks made prior to the coalition coming to power.

He says demand for face-to-face customer service appointments is low, but the council will continue to monitor numbers and base any changes on evidence of need.

A review of the council’s use of the Symington Building is also on-going.
