Opening Of Link Road Delayed Again
Written by HFM News on 10th September 2024
There is a further delay to the opening a link road through Market Harborough’s Airfield Farm Estate.
The route from the A4304 at Lubenham Hill and B6047 Leicester Road was due to open yesterday, but remains closed.
Harborough District Council is now requesting an urgent meeting with the developer responsible after the opening of the road was previously put-back.
The latest delay is being blamed on ‘outstanding matters of health and safety’ and has frustrated residents, who have been waiting for the route to open to make it easier to access and leave the estate by vehicle and on foot.
Jo Asher is the ward councillor for the area and told HFM she is not happy about the situation:

The link road will connect one side of the estate with the other
No new date for the opening of the road has been confirmed.
A spokesperson for Harborough District Council said: “We received confirmation from the developer on 6 September that the opening of the link road on the Airfield Farm housing estate is delayed due to outstanding matters of health and safety.
“We are arranging to meet with the developer on site as soon as possible.
“Safety is paramount though we acknowledge residents’ frustrations. Access is still available from either end of the estate.”
Separately, developers have requested a delay to the opening of the final section of the route – along Airfield Road to the roundabout by Harborough Innovation Centre – which will be considered by the council.
