MP Demands Urgent Meeting Over Roman Way Closure

Harborough MP Neil O’Brien is demanding tenants at Roman Way Community Centre in Market Harborough are given extensions to their leases.
They have been told to leave by the end of October and charity Shopmobility faces an uncertain future, as it has so far been unable to find any alternative premises.

Leicestershire County Council is to close and sell-off the centre, although a group which wants to turn it into an arts and creative hub is to be given time to try and put forward a bid to buy it.
Shopmobility has asked if it can stay operating from the building during that period and the council has said it is considering the request.
Should a new use for the centre be secured, the charity could continue to operate from the base.
