Harborough Men Urged To Get Singing!
Written by HFM News on 13th August 2024
A new project is aiming to get men in Market Harborough singing and promote the mental health benefits.
The Great Bowden Recital Trust is hoping to form a male voice choir to meet regularly from next month, ahead of performing at a Christmas concert.
The initiative called ‘Men Sing for Movember’ will also support men’s mental health charity Movember.
Musical Director Tracy Holderness is excited:

Singing with others has been proven to have numerous positive effects, from reducing isolation and promoting a feeling of belonging to a group to reducing stress and anxiety and boosting the levels of ‘happy’ hormones.
The 3-month project will include 8 rehearsals on Sunday evenings at Meadowdale Primary School followed by a ‘debrief’ at a local pub.
It will culminate in a performance at the Trust’s Christmas Concert on Friday 13th December in Great Bowden.
There is no charge to take part, but participants will be encouraged to make a donation and fundraise for Movember.
Project lead, Jim Holyoak is encouraging people to get involved:
